If you can't access the Web from a sharing Client and everything pinged ok, then check the following:

  • Is Wingate running?  Use the "Query Wingate Engine" icon in the Wingate Start menu to check.

  • Is Wingate's "WWW Proxy server" service running?  Use Gatekeeper to check.

  • Do your port numbers match? Make sure the proxy setting in your browser and the port setting for Wingate's WWW Proxy service match.   Check Wingate's WWW Proxy setting by:
    1. Run Gatekeeper
    2. Double click on  the Services icon.
    3. Double click on the WWW Proxy server icon and you will see the window shown below

Proxy Server Properties

    1. Make sure the number in the "Accept connections on port" field is the same as the number you've entered in your browser's HTTP proxy port field.  The port number defaults to 80, but you might need to change it if you are using Microsoft Front Page.
